Random Thoughts on “The Tablet”

I didn’t feel like going all-out with a post, but here’s a quick, non-edited thought:

Thus far, every commentator (aside from the philosophical ones like John Gruber and the like) has focused solely on the “touchability” aspect of the device.

I don’t believe that this is the case. With the iPhone and then the iPod touch, Apple introduced multi-touch to the world, and yes, the new device will definitely feature a touch-centric interface with a large, gorgeous, high-definition display. But they will not choose to harp on the “touch” part of the device. Instead, the touch capability will just fade into the background, and become an “of course” part of the computing experience. The new device will focus on some new, never-before-imagined method of interaction with a computer of any kind.
